This is me at the OSU Campus Criterium, March 22, 2009.
I might not look like I'm having fun, but really I am doing my favorite thing in the world: riding my bike.
On June 21, 2009, I am going to ride 70 miles to raise money and awareness to help fight cancer.
I am riding in honor of my mother, Cindy Reinhart, a 15-year breast cancer survivor, who was diagnosed at the age of 34 despite leading a healthy and active lifestyle; my grandmother, Sally Hightower, who has been fighting breast cancer - and winning - for the past year; my father, Bill Reinhart, a testicular cancer survivor; my great-aunt Mary Elizabeth Stefan, who died of pancreatic cancer last year; and my grandfather, William A. Reinhart, who died of lung cancer when I was 9.
I am riding because my family is no stranger to cancer, and because the Lance Armstrong Foundation does great things for people with cancer and their families. I am riding to raise awareness that physical activity and a healthy lifestyle can help people minimize their cancer risk. Mostly, though, I am riding because I love to ride, and because bicycles have changed my life - I have gone from a couch potato to an athlete in two years. I think that everyone, young and old alike, should get on a bike and ride it - it could change your life!
Please support me as I make a difference in the cancer fight through my participation in the LIVESTRONG Challenge. Thank you!
