Willie, Emily, and Paddy Rogers - The LiveStrong Team has never been so strong! or goofy...
The Lance Armstrong Foundation unites people to fight cancer, believing that unity is strength, knowledge is power, and attitude is everything.
For 2008 I set a goal to ride my bike at least 6000 miles commuting. I am happy to say that on November 5th I reached that goal! I finished the year with 6502.99 miles! This was a big deal for me. It wasn't that long ago where such a feat wasn't even a remote possibility.
In thinking about my goal for 2009, I thought it would be nice to try and help those friends and family among us who are facing a true up hill battle. My goal is to convert each of those miles I commuted on my bike in 2008 into a dollar that would go towards the fight against cancer.
As big as riding all those miles was for me personally, converting those miles to dollars in the fight against cancer is much, much more important. Please help me in reaching this goal.
On June 21 I'll be riding 100 miles in the LiveStrong Challenge in Seattle. When my family and I sat down and talked about riding in honor of one of our friends we could not decide on a single person. So instead, I will be riding for many of our friends, family and coworkers who are currently fighting cancer or who have fought with cancer in the past. These people are;
SUSAN CAVANAUGH
LISA VENEROSO
JAYNE BRADBURY
MARY ELLEN MOORE
Rev THOMAS BEATTIE
TOM BEATY
SUE THOM
DEBORAH HELSELL
CHRIS SATO
TAMI WALL
and lastly,
THERESE CAIN, my friend and coworker, who passed away on July 28, 2008. Therese always encouraged me to bike faster and further than I ever thought I could.
And in the memory of SHARON BROADWAY, a talented jeweler who passed, far to soon, on July 23, 2000.
Please support me as I make a difference in the cancer fight through my participation in the LIVESTRONG Challenge. Thank you!
